UAE University launches the “Bachelor of Science in Space Sciences” program

The United Arab Emirates University launched the “Bachelor of Science in Space Science” program within the Department of Physics in the College of Science, in a strategic step that reflects the university’s commitment to supporting the UAE’s directions towards strengthening its global position in the space sector, and preparing national competencies capable of leading the future in advanced scientific and technical fields.

The new program comes in response to the growing demand for specialists in space science and related technologies, as it provides students with an integrated educational environment that combines basic sciences and modern applications, through the study of physics, mathematics, and computing, in addition to specialized fields that include astronomy and astrophysics, planetary science, satellite technologies, communications and space navigation, and space sustainability, supported by practical training, research projects, and field training in the country’s space sector institutions.

The program aims to contribute to building national human capital that possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to support the UAE space system, enhance the country’s research and scientific capabilities, and enable graduates to contribute to developing innovative solutions to future challenges in the space sector, in line with the UAE’s vision and its national strategies for innovation and the knowledge economy.

The program will begin at the beginning of the new academic year, and it is expected to contribute to providing government institutions, research centers, and companies operating in the space sector with qualified competencies who possess the skills of analyzing space data, designing technical solutions, and participating in research and applied projects, thus enhancing the UAE’s leadership in space exploration and science.
