المملكة: Socotra receives 7,500 tons of diesel through the Saudi program for the reconstruction of Yemen


The archipelago governorate received 7,500 tons of diesel, provided through the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program and maintaining the stability of basic services in Socotra.

The support comes to cover the needs of the power stations in Socotra during the coming months, which contributes to enhancing the stability of basic services and improving the standard of living of the population, and to alleviate the challenges imposed by the climatic and seasonal conditions on the island, which continue for approximately four months.

Supports vital sectors

Providing the power stations in Socotra with the fuel necessary to operate them came as an extension of the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen’s support for the energy sector. Throughout Yemen, which includes feeding more than 70 power generation stations in various Yemeni governorates, in a way that enhances service stability and continuity of operation, and supports the vital and service sectors related to electrical energy.

It is noteworthy that the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen provided a number of oil derivatives grants, to contribute to the sustainability of basic services, enhance the capabilities of Yemeni institutions, and support economic recovery and development in Yemen.

It included a grant worth $180 million in 2018, a grant worth $422 million in 2021, and a grant worth $200 million in 2022, in addition to the current grant for the year 2026.
