Persians "Shedya" Crowned with the President’s Cup title for purebred Arabian horses in Hamburg

Hamburg, 6 July / WAM / The series of His Highness the President of the State’s Cup races for purebred Arabian horses continued their brilliance on European tracks, after the mare “Shediya” won the title of the sixth German leg, which was held yesterday on the Horner Rheinbahn grass track in the city of Hamburg, as part of the activities of the historic German Derby in its 157th edition, within the framework of the agenda of the 33rd edition of the precious cup.

The prestigious Cup race series is held with the support and sponsorship of the wise leadership, within the framework of its great interest in developing the Arabian horse racing industry and raising it to the highest international ranks, in support of owners and breeders in various countries of the world, and based on the UAE’s keenness to preserve the journey of the Arabian horse as an authentic legacy of its national heritage.

The Gallic Cup race, which was held in conjunction with the historic German Derby, witnessed a distinguished crowd attendance exceeding 30,000 spectators, confirming the prestigious status of the Gallic Cup races in major European festivals, while the race was held for a distance of 1,600 meters on grass, in the second category, and is designated for purebred Arabian horses aged four years and above, amid the participation of an elite group of the best Arabian horse studs in Germany and Europe.

The mare, “Shadiya,” a descendant of “Al Murtajaz x Irqiyah Bint Burning Sand,” owned by Wathnan Racing, continued her remarkable brilliance by achieving her ninth victory out of 10 starts, after she performed exceptionally well under the supervision of trainer Alban de Meol and under the leadership of jockey James Doyle, covering the race distance with a time of 1:54.66 minutes, and adding the German station title to her record of achievements, which includes prominent titles, including Qatar International Cup and Qatar Golden Sword, first category.

“Shadiya” imposed its control over the course of the race in the final meters, after it started strongly towards the final straight, and succeeded in maintaining its lead until the finish line despite the strong chase from the horse “Hasif”, of the descendants of “Al-Murtajaz × Ghazwa Bint Zawam”, which came second, while “HM Majd Allah”, of the descendants of “Ez Al-Khail × Anqa Karim Bint Nizam”, came fourth, and “Papillion T”, of the descendants of “Al-Murtajiz × Bayba Tea Bint” came third. Jandal”, while “Amas” came fifth, descended from “Mister Jeonex x Farlet de Pin Bint Akbar”.

The mare “Shadiya” joined the register of champions of the German leg of the precious cup, which includes an elite group of Arabian horse champions, led by “Mashhour Al-Khalidiya”, champion of the 2019 edition, “Freddy B”, champion of the 2020 edition, “Lamathmal”, champion of the 2021 edition, “Quinchala”, champion of the 2022 edition, “Jableh”, champion of the 2023 edition, and “El Paso T”, champion of the 2020 edition. 2024, and HM Al Shaheen will be the champion of the 2025 edition, so that the German station continues to consolidate its position as one of the most prominent European stations on the agenda of the His Highness the President’s Cup series for purebred Arabian horses.

The race was witnessed and the winners were crowned by His Excellency Ahmed Al Attar, UAE Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, and Dr. Peter Tschencher, First Mayor of the City of Hamburg, in the presence of His Excellency Faisal Al Rahmani, Secretary General of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the His Highness the President’s Cup Series for Purebred Arabian Horses, and Ahmed Al Samarrai, President of the German Arabian Horse Federation, while Mohammed Al Suwaidi, representative of Wadhanan Racing, received the cup, amid a wonderful atmosphere and distinguished public interaction.

His Excellency Matar Suhail Al-Yabhouni Al-Dhaheri, Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the President’s Cup Series for Arabian Horses, expressed his pride in the great successes and distinctive reactions recorded by the German station, and the remarkable public presence and wide interaction in Hamburg, which embodies the global status that the precious cup has reached.

He added that the German station reaffirms the value and status of the precious cup in the most prominent international festivals and tracks, with the participation of an elite group of the best horses, stalls, owners, trainers and jockeys, and the distinctive competitive levels, which reflects the development of Arabian horse racing and its growing presence on the global scene, appreciating the great cooperation with partners in Germany and the distinguished role in producing the event in a way worthy of the name and status of the precious cup.
