Started Jeddah Governorate Municipality Implementing improvement, development and processing works Traffic congestion at the intersection of Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Road and King Fahd and Al-Makarona Roads, as part of a project to implement traffic solutions to address traffic congestion in Jeddah City, with the aim of enhancing the efficiency of vehicle movement and achieving greater flow on one of the most important vital axes in the city.

The Municipality explained that the project comes within the initiatives of the Quality of Life Program, one of the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, and includes the implementation of a package of engineering and traffic solutions that aim to raise the capacity of the road, improve the flow of movement, and reduce congestion, in addition to developing the urban landscape of the two intersections in a way that contributes to improving the general appearance and raising the quality of the urban environment.

It indicated that the works include installing traffic signals to regulate traffic and improve traffic flow, in addition to improving the entrances and exits connecting the main road and the service path in a way that enhances traffic safety levels, increases traffic efficiency, and contributes to addressing choke points, in addition to reducing waiting time.

The secretariat confirmed the implementation of the necessary traffic diversions to ensure the continuity of traffic and maintain public safety throughout the period of work implementation, noting that the project began on February 1, 2026 with a completion rate of 10%, and it is planned to complete all work by the end of the third quarter of this year, with the expectation that the pace of implementation will accelerate during the coming period according to the approved implementation plan.

It stated that the two intersections serve Prince Muhammad bin Abdulaziz (Tahlia) Road and downtown Jeddah, and are considered vital intersections that contribute to improving traffic movement on one of the city’s most important main axes. Residents of the Al-Faisaliah, Al-Safa, Al-Rehab, and Al-Aziziyah neighborhoods also benefit from the project.

The project comes within the Jeddah Governorate Municipality’s plan to develop a number of priority intersections in the city, by implementing practical solutions that contribute to raising the efficiency of the road network. Improving the mobility experience and enhancing the quality of life.
