The Emirates Intellectual Property Association and the WIPO Academy discuss cooperation in the fields of training and capacity building

Geneva, July 11, 2017 / WAM / A delegation from the Emirates Intellectual Property Association discussed with Chen Hongping, Director of the Academy of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), ways to enhance cooperation in the areas of training and capacity building, developing specialized programs in intellectual property, exchanging global experiences and knowledge, and benefiting from the best international practices in a way that contributes to supporting the intellectual property system.

His Excellency Major General Counsel Dr. Abdul Quddus Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidli, Chairman of the Association’s Board of Directors, confirmed during a meeting on the sidelines of participation in the meetings of the associations of member states of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, which will continue until July 15, that investing in capacity building and developing national competencies represents a priority for the Association, based on its belief in the importance of preparing qualified cadres capable of keeping pace with global developments in the intellectual property sector, and enhancing the UAE’s competitiveness in this field.

For his part, Chen Hongping stressed the academy’s keenness to expand areas of cooperation with the Emirates Intellectual Property Association, through implementing specialized training programs and exchanging experiences, which contributes to developing competencies and supporting the intellectual property system at the regional and international levels.

This meeting comes within the framework of the Association’s keenness to strengthen its international partnerships with the World Intellectual Property Organization, which contributes to developing national competencies, supporting the process of development and excellence in the intellectual property sector in the UAE, and consolidating its position in this field at the regional and international levels.
