The Arab Parliament condemns the aggressive Iranian attacks that targeted two Emirati oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz

The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, condemned in the strongest terms the aggressive Iranian attacks that targeted the Emirati national oil tankers “Mombasa” and “Al Bahia” as they were passing through the southern corridor of the Strait of Hormuz, within Omani territorial waters, which resulted in the death of a crew member and the injury of others. He expressed his sincere condolences and sympathy to the victim’s family and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
Al Yamahi affirmed – in a statement issued today – the Arab Parliament’s full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and its support in the measures it takes to protect its security, stability, economic interests and preserve its sovereignty.
He stressed that this represents a flagrant violation of the rules of international law and freedom of maritime navigation, and represents a direct threat to the security of international sea lanes and the safety of commercial ships, in addition to being a serious violation of the relevant Security Council resolutions that stress the need to protect international navigation and not expose it to any threat.
Al-Yamahi called on the international community and the Security Council to assume their responsibilities regarding these repeated threats to international shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
