"Federal tax" Launch an initiative "Emirates councils" To enhance direct communication with citizens

DUBAI, 16 JULY / WAM / The Federal Tax Authority launched the “Emirates Councils” initiative under the slogan “Closer…and we are closer”, during its first sessions held at Al Khawaneej Council, in the presence of His Excellency Abdulaziz Al Mulla, Director General of the Federal Tax Authority, and a number of citizens, within the framework of the Authority’s keenness to enhance direct and effective communication with citizens and listen to their inquiries and suggestions.
During the session, His Excellency Abdulaziz Al-Mulla reviewed all the topics of interest to citizens, and also listened to the attendees’ comments and inquiries, and praised the level of tax compliance reached by entrepreneurs and the great community awareness of the tax system.
The dialogue addressed a number of challenges faced by those involved in tax transactions, most notably the purchase of a commercial license registered in the name of another person and the resulting tax obligations, and the lack of clarity of the difference between residential and commercial real estate from a tax perspective, in addition to the challenges related to influencers and content creators, including considering revenues resulting from advertisements and promotional activities as taxable income when the activity is carried out commercially, in addition to raising a number of other inquiries and challenges.
Al-Mulla also stressed the Authority’s constant endeavor to build bridges of trust and communication with all members of society, and stressed the importance of concerted efforts and listening to citizens’ comments and designing services that meet their expectations and ambitions, and that the “Emirates Councils” initiative represents a continuing new beginning in the field of constructive community communication.
During the dialogue session, he pointed out the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of the tax file information and reference number, and not sharing their data with any unaccredited tax agent or any other person, given that the tax file represents an official record documenting the tax obligations and tax returns of the customer.
This initiative aims to enhance direct communication with citizens, listen to their opinions and suggestions, answer their inquiries, and identify the challenges they may face when dealing with tax procedures and services, which reflects the Authority’s keenness to enhance its proximity to society and provide easier and more transparent services.
The initiative stems from the vital role played by suburban councils in enhancing direct communication between community members, consolidating community partnership, in addition to raising the level of awareness of tax procedures, which enhances the government’s approach to providing proactive and integrated services that meet the needs of citizens.
Abdulaziz Al Mulla said that the “Emirates Councils” initiative represents one of the most prominent community initiatives that we have launched to enhance awareness of tax procedures among citizens, and simplify the customers’ journey by providing information and answering their inquiries directly, in a way that enhances transparency and ease of access to tax services.
He stressed the keenness to listen closely and work to resolve the various inquiries and challenges that citizens may face in their tax procedures, indicating that direct dialogue represents the best way to develop more efficient services that meet the aspirations of society and enhance mutual trust between the Authority and customers.
