With the participation of 32 experts, the Artificial Intelligence track begins its first training modules within the Emirates Experts Programme

The Artificial Intelligence track began its first training modules, within the Emirates Experts Programme, in the presence of Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, and Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Science and Advanced Technology, Imran Sharaf, and with the participation of 32 Emirati experts, with the aim of providing them with the foundations of technologies, infrastructure, and data that constitute the main pillars of the modern artificial intelligence system.

Omar Sultan Al Olama stressed that the UAE continues to invest in preparing national competencies qualified to lead future transformations, based on a national vision that makes human capital the main driver of sustainable progress, noting that the rapid developments in artificial intelligence technologies impose the priority of preparing leaders who combine technical knowledge and strategic vision, in a way that enhances the UAE’s position and its global leadership in developing and adopting advanced technologies.

Omar Sultan Al Olama said that the artificial intelligence track within the Emirates Experts Program represents a national platform for preparing a generation of experts who possess a comprehensive understanding of the artificial intelligence system, its applications, and its implications for various sectors, which qualifies them to contribute to formulating innovative policies and solutions, and to lead specific projects that enhance the country’s competitiveness and support the national development process.


Omran Sharaf stressed that artificial intelligence has redefined the foundations of the new world order, as it is no longer just a part of technological development, but has become a strategic pillar for enhancing economic competitiveness, national flexibility, international cooperation, and global influence.

He said: The UAE’s strategic direction in the field of artificial intelligence, based on national support and strong strategic partnerships, reflects the country’s position as a leading global partner in the artificial intelligence and technological innovation sector, and the UAE embodies this trend through its commitment to building a safe and prosperous future for youth and future generations by harnessing its investments in human capital and national competencies.

In details, the first training unit, “Basics and Toolkit of Artificial Intelligence,” focuses on the use of artificial intelligence applications and learning about how to create smart systems and means of training, deploying and expanding them in real work environments. The computational capabilities of artificial intelligence will also be mainly learned, such as the computing power needed to process data and run artificial intelligence models, in addition to learning about the physical and economic components of this system, including electronic chips, graphics processing units, energy requirements, and global supply chains, and understanding the actual capabilities of artificial intelligence systems, the cost of operating them, and the necessary technical requirements. for its application, along with limitations that may limit its widespread use.

The first unit will also address the infrastructure and systems supporting artificial intelligence, starting from data engineering and model development to broad application within institutions. In addition to learning about the direct impact of data quality, structural integrity, availability, and governance frameworks on the performance and results of artificial intelligence, participants will make field visits to the Technological Innovation Institute (TII) and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority Laboratory (ADIA Lab) to learn closely how to transform advanced theoretical research in the field of artificial intelligence into realistic innovations and apply them to achieve a tangible national impact.

On this occasion, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority Laboratory will contribute with a specialized lecture within the program, presented by the laboratory director, Dr. Horst Simon, with the participation of a number of laboratory scientists, to discuss the role of computing capabilities as a strategic resource to advance the wheel of innovation in artificial intelligence, in addition to introducing participants to the laboratory’s most prominent research, activities, and contributions to the development of this field.

During the visit to the Institute of Technology Innovation, the CEO of the Institute, Dr. Najwa Al-Araj, will lead a discussion session entitled “Building the Artificial Intelligence System in the UAE: From the National Strategy to the Infrastructure on the Ground,” which addresses the basic components necessary to build sovereign national capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence.

Participants will apply these technical foundations and knowledge to their final project, addressing organizational and national challenges. Each project is designed to translate technical knowledge into practical solutions in the field of artificial intelligence that have a tangible impact, and support the UAE’s broader ambitions in this field.

Through this module, participants will develop a common technical language and a solid understanding of the architecture of AI, laying the foundation for subsequent modules in the program on leadership, strategy and innovation.
