An American court sets June 1, 2027, as the date for the start of Maduro’s trial

A US court ruled that ousted Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro will stand trial in the United States on June 1, 2027, after he was detained in a lightning military operation in Caracas in January.
The former leader (63 years old) and his wife Celia Flores (69 years old) have been detained in a Brooklyn prison in New York City for more than seven months, and have pleaded not guilty to charges related to drug trafficking and possession of firearms.
