After buying the club for 400 million, Liverpool’s owners are planning to sell a minority stake for 6 billion dollars

The Financial Times revealed on Tuesday that the American owners of the English club Liverpool are negotiating with Indian investors, including the Mittal family, to sell a minority stake in the club’s shares, valued at more than $6 billion.
Fenway Sports Group, which paid $400 million to acquire Liverpool in 2010, confirmed these negotiations in a statement to the American newspaper the Financial Times.
“An investment consortium led, managed and represented by Amit Bhatia has expressed interest in investing in purchasing a minority stake in Liverpool Football Club,” Fenway said.
The American group and its owner, John Henry, succeeded in returning Liverpool to the podium in the English Premier League in 2020, after a long absence of 30 years, and added the twentieth title last year to equal its rival, Manchester United.
Liverpool also achieved its sixth Champions League title in 2019 under the leadership of German coach Jurgen Klopp, but the English team lost two more finals to Real Madrid in 2018 and 2022.
