More than 13 thousand participants participated in the activities of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council at the Sheikh Zayed Summer Festival

ABU DHABI, 23 JULY / WAM / The activities of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in the “Sports and Vitality” City as part of the Sheikh Zayed Summer Festival 2026, which continues in Al Wathba until next August, have achieved increasing participation rates, with a remarkable interest from children and young people in the various sports programmes.
The events recorded 5,250 participants and participation during the first week, then 8,800 in the second week, bringing the total during them to 13,050 participants and participation.
Statistics showed that the age group from 6 to 9 years recorded the highest participation rate with a total of 8,100 participants, followed by the age group from 10 to 14 years with a total of 4,100, while the number of those in the age group from 15 to 18 years reached 1,850 participants, which reflects the great demand from various age levels for the sports activities provided.
The Sports and Vitality City includes a variety of sports activities, including chess, racket games, electronic archery, bow and arrow, football, judo, jiu-jitsu, basketball, table tennis, yoga classes for women, and winter games, providing an integrated sports experience that meets the interests of various members of society.
Saeed Al Muhairi, Director of the Community Sports Department at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said that the noticeable and growing increase in the number of participants during the second week confirms the success of the sports programs and activities provided by the Council, and the keenness of parents to provide their children with the opportunity to benefit from these specific activities, which combine sports, entertainment, and skill development in a safe and stimulating environment.
Al Muhairi added that the Council continues to work with existing partners and clubs to provide various sports programs that contribute to enhancing the culture of physical activity, discovering talent, and establishing sports as a way of life, in line with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council’s vision of building a healthier and more active society.
