"UNESCO" 10 new sites included on the World Heritage List

Busan, 26 July / WAM / The World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), during its forty-eighth session held in the city of Busan, South Korea, included ten new cultural and natural sites from various parts of the world on the World Heritage List.

Sites included include the historic capitals of Asuka and Fujiwara in Japan, the modernist architecture of Tashkent in Uzbekistan, the colonial “Hausas” plantations in Sao Tome and Principe, the wider area of Mount Olympus in Greece, Aalto’s architectural works in Finland, the Allied landing beaches in Normandy in 1944, the Royal Capetian fortresses in Languedoc, France, and the Italian co-ownership theater system in Italy, in addition to To expand the site of modernist housing complexes in Berlin, Germany, with the inclusion of the Waldsiedlung Zellendorf settlement.

The new sites highlight important stages in the history of human civilizations, the development of architecture and arts, and historical memory, in addition to natural sites of exceptional value, thus enhancing efforts to preserve the global cultural and natural heritage for future generations.
