The Sharjah Award for Linguistic and Lexical Studies continues to receive specialized literature
Sharjah, 28 July / WAM / The Sharjah Arabic Language Academy has extended an invitation to researchers and authors specializing in Arabic sciences to submit their writings and research to participate in the ninth session of the “Sharjah Award for Linguistic and Lexical Studies” and to complete the nomination files before the closing of the door for participation on July 31 of this year, through the award’s electronic platform, “https://shj-arabic-award.shj.ae/”.
The total value of the prize is 100,000 US dollars, distributed among four winners within two axes: The first place holder in each axis will receive $30,000, and the second place holder will receive $20,000.
The current session receives publications within the axis of “Linguistic and Graphical Studies in the Qur’anic Discourse,” which includes grammatical, morphological, rhetorical, lexical, and stylistic research related to the verses of the Holy Qur’an and the readings it provides that reveal the connotations of the Qur’anic discourse, the aspects of its miracles, and the characteristics of its systems.
The second axis, “Modern Lexical Studies,” specializes in literature that examines the linguistic and human lexical industry in the modern era, analyzes its methods and transformations, and proposes ways to develop it in light of digital tools, databases, and linguistic processing techniques.
Dr. Muhammad Safi Al Mosteghanemi, Secretary General of the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, said that the award looks forward, as the nomination period approaches, to receiving more research that contributes to enriching linguistic and lexical research and adds to the Arabic library works that combine scientific originality and keep pace with contemporary cognitive transformations.
He stressed that the award has, over its previous sessions, established its position as a platform for appreciating serious research efforts and highlighting works that provide a qualitative addition to Arabic sciences.
He expressed his hope that the remaining days will represent an opportunity for researchers and authors who have accomplished solid work in the two axes of the current session to complete their contributions and join a scientific process that has contributed over the past years to celebrating studies that enrich linguistic knowledge and serve Arabic in its renewed fields.
The nominated work must be a printed book bearing an international publication number, and its first edition must have been published between January 2016 and July 2026, while research published in peer-reviewed journals is not accepted. It is also required that the book has not won a similar award, and the candidate must submit one work in one topic, and the winners must not participate in previous rounds until five years have passed from the year of winning.
