The European Union strongly condemns the Iranian security attack on French diplomats

The European Union, in a statement issued by the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy on behalf of member states, condemned the attack carried out by Iranian security forces on two diplomats from the French embassy in Tehran on July 19, considering it a flagrant violation of the Vienna Conventions on Diplomatic and Consular Relations and a threat to the safety of foreign missions.

The Federation expressed its full solidarity with France, calling on the Iranian authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation and hold those responsible accountable to ensure that these violations are not repeated.

The statement also stressed the need for Iran to adhere to its international obligations and respect diplomatic immunities and privileges, as they are an essential foundation for continuing channels of dialogue and maintaining relations between countries.
