Zayed International Airport.. “The most beautiful airport in the world”

Zayed International Airport was crowned “The Most Beautiful Airport in the World” by the Prix Versailles Architecture and Design Awards, in recognition of its outstanding architectural design in the airport category.

This honor was announced during a ceremony held at the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris, and this victory coincides with the first anniversary of the airport’s operation and the UAE’s 53rd Federation Day celebrations.

Within just one year of its operation, Zayed International Airport was able to occupy first place in this prestigious category, outperforming global competitors, thus setting a new standard of excellence in the field of airports worldwide.

This award highlights the pioneering design of the airport, which blends modern technology with the rich cultural heritage of the UAE. The design extends over an area of ​​742,000 square metres, with the ability to accommodate up to 11,000 passengers per hour and 79 aircraft at the same time.

This doubles the airport’s previous capacity, as it can now handle up to 45 million passengers annually, with plans to launch nine biometric identity control points by 2025, an achievement considered the first of its kind in the world.

Elena Sorlini, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, said on this occasion that Zayed International Airport embodies the UAE’s vision for the future of the aviation sector, as ambition and innovation are evident in its design, and its commitment to enhancing travel experiences through airports, stressing that winning this award is a source of pride for Abu Dhabi Airports.

Winning this title culminates in the global recognition Zayed International Airport has received over the past twelve months, as it has become the fastest growing airport in the Middle East in terms of seat capacity, and has also achieved a high degree of customer satisfaction according to the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) standards from Airports Council International ( ACI).

Zayed International Airport joins the list of the best airports in the world, as it continued to achieve remarkable numbers in terms of passenger traffic, which witnessed a steady quarterly increase, as the airport provided services to more than 21 million passengers as of September 30.

The design of Zayed International Airport combines elements of Emirati culture and advanced technology to provide a wonderful and efficient space for travelers. This achievement is also evidence of the dedication of more than 25,000 members of the airport’s work team who contributed to its development and the launch of its operations.
