المملكة: Leading plans and caring for the gifted…new tasks for school principals and supervisors

The Ministry of Education has defined the roles and responsibilities of school principals and resident supervisors according to the new supervisory model, which aims to promote Islamic and national values ​​and improve educational performance within the school environment.
This measure comes within the efforts aimed at achieving integration between leadership and supervisory roles, and supporting the school in building an advanced educational environment that focuses on developing students’ skills and enhancing their active participation in society.

Resident supervisor duties

The new description of the resident supervisor included multiple tasks aimed at supporting the school in instilling Islamic and national values, and working with teachers, activity leaders, and student mentors to enhance students’ values, personalities, and develop their skills.
The tasks also included helping the school prepare the weekly learning plan and the quarterly plan, and disseminating it to parents, in addition to encouraging school employees to participate in volunteer activities.

Link plans to the calendar

The resident supervisor works to ensure that plans to improve school performance are linked to the results of self- and external evaluation standards, with an emphasis on making the plans realistic and implementable with the participation of all school employees.
It also contributes to the selection and implementation of programs and extracurricular activities that contribute to developing students’ skills and talents, while providing support in supervisory processes related to teaching, learning outcomes, and student guidance.

Caring for the gifted

The resident supervisor focuses on caring for students with special needs and giftedness, enhancing the psychological safety of teachers and learners, and supporting the school to achieve performance indicators related to student health.

The new description of the school principal includes leadership responsibilities that focus on promoting national and Islamic values, leading the process of preparing the school’s operational plan and following up on its implementation in order to achieve optimal use of resources and expertise.
It also focuses on empowering employees and involving them in developing internal processes, and supervising the implementation of intellectual awareness programs to ensure the safety of the educational environment from extremist ideology and negative phenomena.

Developing school performance

The role of the school principal includes periodically reviewing the performance of school employees and providing feedback to improve their performance in line with rules and regulations, with a focus on improving learning outcomes and ensuring the quality of educational services provided.

The Ministry of Education confirmed that this new definition of roles aims to achieve integration between school principals and resident supervisors, which contributes to developing the school environment, enhancing national and Islamic values, and improving educational performance to achieve the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
