"Emirates Down Syndrome" Participates in an international meeting in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur, 11 December / WAM / A delegation from the Emirates Down Syndrome Society participated in the annual meeting of the General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Down Syndrome Association, which was held in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, in the presence of delegations and representatives of public benefit associations for people with Down syndrome from 18 countries and a representative of the United Nations. .
The meeting discussed issues related to improving the quality of life for people with Down syndrome in member states and exchanging experiences and knowledge that would improve the services provided, the most important of which are health, education and integration.
The UAE is the first Arab country whose membership in the Federation of Asia-Pacific Nations was approved during the meeting held in the Sri Lankan capital, Colombo, in 2018, in addition to the UAE hosting in 2019 the third annual meeting of the Federation since its founding.
Dr. Manal Jarour, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Down Syndrome Society, gave a presentation during the meeting about the most important achievements achieved by the Society in the past three years and the sustainable projects it has established to empower and integrate people of determination.
She stressed the importance of sharing best practices in all fields, including health, educational integration, empowerment, employment, and comprehensive integration into society.
The Chairman of the Federation’s Board of Directors and the representative of the United Nations praised the UAE’s report, the association’s achievements, and the level the country has reached, stressing that it is a source of inspiration and must be a model for all member states to follow.
