France welcomes the accession of Romania and Bulgaria to the region "Schengen"
France welcomed the agreement reached in the European Union Council regarding the accession of Romania and Bulgaria to the “Schengen” area. The European Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, in a statement today, Thursday, that the decision unanimously adopted by the ministers of the European Union member states on December 11 will allow the lifting of checkpoints on the land borders. With Romania and Bulgaria, checkpoints were also lifted on the sea and air borders in March 2024.
It includes an area "Schengen" Freedom of movement of people, and the reform of the “Schengen” border law Which was adopted this year provides new measures in the areas of security, police and judicial cooperation, with the aim of better monitoring internal movements within the European Union.
