The G7 confirms its support for a comprehensive political transition in Syria

The leaders of the Group of Seven countries (G7) affirmed their firm commitment to the Syrian people, and their full support for a comprehensive Syrian-led political transition, in accordance with the principles of UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
In a joint statement today, they called on all parties to preserve the unity and national integrity of Syria, while respecting its independence and sovereignty.

Transitional process

They stressed support for the United Nations Disengagement Observation Force in the Golan Heights, expressing the group’s readiness to support a transitional process leading to ensuring the rule of law and respect for human rights.
The “G7” group includes the United States of America, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Canada, and Japan.
