The Egyptian President discusses developments in the situation in the region with his Turkish counterpart

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on the sidelines of the G8 Economic Cooperation Summit held in Cairo.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in all fields, in addition to discussing developments in the situation in the region.

Developments in the Middle East

The official spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, explained that the meeting dealt with developments in the situation in the Middle East region, where the need to intensify coordination and consultation between the two countries regarding crises in the region was emphasized to ensure peace and stability.

In this context, Egyptian efforts were reviewed to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, the release of hostages and detainees, and the access of humanitarian aid to the people of the Strip without restrictions or obstacles.
During the meeting, the situation in the countries of the region was also discussed, especially in Libya, Sudan, Somalia and Syria, where the importance of protecting the sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of those countries was emphasized, in order to achieve security and peace for their people.
