Pictures: 10 people were killed in a small plane crash in Brazil

The Brazilian Civil Defense Authority announced that a small plane crashed in Gramado, a Brazilian town very popular among tourists.
It resulted in the death of all ten passengers and crew members on board and the injury of more than 12 others on the ground.

Small aircraft accidents

The Civil Defense Authority stated in a publication that the plane hit the chimney of a house and then the second floor of a building, before crashing into a mobile phone store in a neighborhood that is mostly residential areas in the town of Gramado.
More than a dozen people on the ground were taken to hospitals with injuries and smoke inhalation, and two of them were said to be in critical condition. It was not immediately clear what caused the crash.

Very popular

Local media reported that the passengers were from the same family, and were traveling to Sao Paulo state, coming from another city in Rio Grande do Sul state.
The town of Gramado is located in the Serra Gocha Mountains and is very popular with Brazilian tourists, who enjoy the cool weather, hiking trails and traditional architecture.

Last August, five people were killed when a small twin-engine plane crashed on a farm in the town of Abicas in Mato Grosso state, western Brazil.

Frequent accidents

Local police reported at the time that the plane, which could accommodate seven people, was on its way to Rondonopolis.
The Brazilian Air Force also indicated at the time that a team of experts from the Air Accident Investigation and Prevention Center had been sent to Abicas to investigate the causes of the accident.
In the same month, the Brazilian airline Fuebas announced that a plane carrying 62 people had crashed in the Brazilian state of São Paulo.
Officials in the Brazilian city of Vinedo said that no passengers survived after the plane crash.

Victims of small aircraft accidents

According to the airline, Voipass, there were 58 passengers and four crew members on board.
At the time, Lula da Silva wrote on the “X” platform, “Very sad news. I offer my deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims.”
Some time before that, a local mayor announced that a plane had crashed in the Amazon state in northern Brazil, killing 14 people.

The accident occurred in Barcelos province, about 400 kilometers from Manaus, the state capital.
