Despite its problems… Why were the investigations of Ford Focus cars closed in America?
This comes after a company addressed its concerns in a satisfactory manner.
Ford Focus saloon cars
In 2018, Ford recalled about 1.5 million Focus sedans produced from 2012 to 2018, due to a possible…
The problem was related to a faulty tank purge valve and computer software, which could not detect that the tank was stuck sufficiently.
If the valve remains stuck and open, excess vacuum may build up in the fuel management system and distort the fuel tank status reading.
Ford car problems
Because of this defect, 5 accidents occurred, resulting in two people being injured but no deaths.
Ford fixed the computer software in the recalled cars and updated the software again in a separate recall in 2019, but in 2023 the National Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation into the two previous recalls.
The investigation was opened at that time after receiving 98 complaints from customers claiming that Ford Focus saloon cars continued to lose power.
Ford car repair
Last fall, Ford began a customer satisfaction program by replacing the valve in affected vehicles.
Ford said that the valve may not work properly, which could lead to the car oscillating or stopping while driving at low speeds.
The National Traffic Safety Administration said Ford’s latest software addressed its concerns and therefore decided to close the investigation into the two previous recalls.
Investigations into defects in Ford vehicles
A few days ago, the US government revealed the start of two new investigations into recalls of Ford cars that were suspected to have not been completed or did not include sufficient numbers of cars with suspected defects.
The larger investigations included about 457,000 Ford Bronco Sport SUVs and the Maverick pickup truck.
The US National Traffic Safety Administration had previously announced the imposition of a large fine on the automaker Ford Motor Company, on the grounds of slow implementation of the process of recalling defective cars.
