The Supreme Council for Media Regulation, during its plenary meeting headed by Engineer Khaled Abdel Aziz, Chairman of the Council, took a set of decisions regulating the broadcast of religious programs on all television channels and radio stations, which will be implemented as of Saturday, January 11, 2025.
The Council confirmed – in a statement today – that this comes within the framework of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation’s keenness to control the performance of religious programs so that they achieve their desired message, towards educating society. A rational religious person who contributes to upholding human and moral values. The decisions included a complete prohibition of live telephone conversations from the public, and opinions, inquiries and questions would be prepared and presented by the program preparation team, which included a specialist in religious affairs, in the appropriate manner before they were broadcast to ensure that they did not include any violation of the established laws, controls and standards.Also. The Council decided to prohibit all advertisements in all their forms during the broadcast of religious programmes. This is permitted only before the beginning of the broadcast of the program or after its end. The duration of the religious program does not exceed 30 minutes on various channels and radio stations and does not exceed 45 minutes on specialized religious channels and radio stations. Exceptions from this clause are those of virtue and holiness, His Eminence the Grand Imam, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Mosque, His Holiness the Pope of Alexandria and the Patriarch of the See of Mark, the Minister of Endowments, and His Eminence the Mufti of the Republic.
