The head of the Doctors Syndicate warns of an increase in the number of medical students

Dr. said. Osama Abdel-Hay, head of the Doctors Syndicate, said that any decision to randomly increase the number of admissions to medical colleges without taking into consideration the places of training and education is a completely wrong decision and dangerous to the interests of students and the future of the country’s health system.
The head of the Doctors Syndicate explained in media statements that the student who joins the medical college must have university hospitals available for training from the first years of study, especially with the implementation of the integrated education system, indicating that the lack of university hospitals in some of the newly opened colleges represents a danger. The head of the Medical Syndicate stressed that education and training after graduation are no less important, explaining that opportunities to register for postgraduate studies, whether in the master’s degree or the Egyptian fellowship (board), must be available to every graduate, and that the currently available opportunities do not exceed 60 percent of the number of graduates, and that any defect in this aspect means a graduate who is not qualified to practice practice efficiently and safely, which affects the quality of health care in the country. The head of the Medical Syndicate also warned against policies of random expansion in admissions without establishing mechanisms to ensure training, pointing out that the number of doctors in internship exceeds the capacity of hospitals, which weakens learning opportunities and threatens the quality of medical education.
He added that the whole world attracts Egyptian doctors because of their diligence and skill, stressing the necessity of linking the number of those accepted into medical colleges to the number of training places and specializations required, calling for The government to review these policies and call on Parliament to monitor and amend these policies and issue the necessary instructions to ensure the stability of medical education and maintain the quality of Egyptian medical personnel.
