An earthquake measuring 4.5 Richter strikes Macquarie Island in the Pacific Ocean

An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale struck west of Macquarie Island, located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean between New Zealand and Antarctica.
The US Geological Survey said in a statement that the epicenter of the earthquake was 10 kilometers below sea level.
There have been no reports so far of any casualties or tsunami threat.
