The General Directorate of Civil Defense stressed the importance of having a smoke detector in establishments and homes, and its role in protecting people and preserving property, to avoid any accident and expedite evacuations.

Early warning of fires

She explained that the importance of the smoke detector lies in warning of the presence of a fire in the building early, facilitating the discovery of the location of the smoke, helping to quickly fight the fire, and issuing loud sounds that wake the sleeper.
The General Directorate calls for following safety guidelines and instructions announced through various media outlets and social networking sites, and calling the two numbers (911) in the Riyadh, Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Eastern regions, and (998) in the rest of the Kingdom’s regions to request assistance in emergency cases.
