Including airports… Russian cyber attacks targeting Italian sites

A pro-Russian group launched cyber attacks targeting several websites in Italy.
According to what the Italian police announced, the attacks targeted the websites of the Italian Foreign Ministry, the Malpensa and Milan-Linate airports, and the transportation systems in the city of Siena and Turin.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Taiani told reporters, “It is the third attack of its kind (on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) during the past three days.”
He added: “It is certain that today’s attack was of Russian origin.”
Taiani announced that he had ordered the creation of a new department for cybersecurity and artificial intelligence within the ministry and to “raise the level of security” at Italian embassies.
A group of hackers calling themselves “NoName057(16)” claimed responsibility for the attacks in a message on Telegram, according to Marco Valerio Cervelini, spokesman for the National Cybersecurity Police.

Cyber ​​attacks on Italy

Italian Postal Police Director Ivano Gabrielli told Adnkronos: “We monitored attacks of this type on various infrastructure and ministerial sites within three days.”
He continued: “These are attacks carried out periodically by groups that support the Russian war on Ukrainian territory.”
The “NoName057(16)” group targets public institutions and strategic sectors in NATO countries that support Ukraine in its war against Russia.
