The last batch: America spends $3.4 billion in support of Ukraine

The US Treasury has disbursed a $3.4 billion payment in direct budget support to Ukraine.
It is noteworthy that this installment is the last of the funding package included in the Additional Appropriations for Security in Ukraine Act of 2024, which was approved by the US Congress earlier and is being disbursed in coordination with the US Agency for International Development and the Ministry of State.
US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in a statement, “Our direct budget support (in Ukraine) remains conditional on reforms to strengthen law enforcement, improve the level of transparency and efficiency of government institutions, and support anti-corruption rules.”

The Russian-Ukrainian war
Ukraine’s direct budget support comes at a critical time as Russia intensifies its attacks on critical and civilian infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.
Yellen continued: “Economic assistance from the United States and our allies is vital to supporting Ukraine’s ability to defend its sovereignty and achieve a just peace by maintaining vital government services that support the country’s courageous fight against the Russian invasion.”
