Within 24 hours… 480 Ukrainian soldiers were killed on the Kursk axis

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced, in a statement on Wednesday, that Russian army units in the Russian border province of Kursk and the Ukrainian armed forces inflicted casualties amounting to more than 480 soldiers during the past 24 hours.
The statement said: Units of the Russian “North” group continued their offensive operations, targeting formations of Ukrainian offensive brigades in several regions, and also monitored 6 counterattacks by hostile attack groups,” according to what the Russian Sputnik news agency reported.

9 combat vehicles destroyed

The statement added: “Tactical operational strikes, army aviation and artillery fire of the Russian forces carried out attacks on personnel and equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, in several areas of the Sumy region.”
The statement indicated that “the Ukrainian Armed Forces suffered losses of more than 480 soldiers, and 9 armored combat vehicles and 21 vehicles belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces were destroyed.”
The ministry explained that “the total losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces since the start of combat operations on the Kursk axis amounted to about 46,460 soldiers.”

Two people were killed in Ukraine

Several fires broke out in Kiev on New Year’s Day, following Russian drone attacks, killing at least two people and wounding seven others.
The body of a woman was recovered from under the rubble of a house, according to the mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, on the Telegram application, while he confirmed the death of another person, and reported that 3 people had been transferred to the hospital.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attack, adding: Even on New Year’s Day, Russia is only interested in inflicting pain on Ukraine.
Klitschko had previously stated that drone debris fell on several buildings in two areas of the city.
A fire broke out on the roof and in an apartment of a residential building, the upper two floors of which were partially destroyed.

Seek safety in shelters

Klitschko said that air defenses had been activated in the city, calling on citizens to seek safety in shelters and rooms.
Klitschko also posted pictures of a tram whose windows were shattered and its track damaged as a result of falling drone debris.
Russia has carried out drone attacks in other parts of Ukraine since New Year’s Eve.
