Hundreds of community volunteers participated in Dubai Police in organizing and securing New Year’s 2025 celebrations, among various activities.
The Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, said that everyone was cooperating to make the events a success, which numbered 44 events and 36 fireworks sites, under the umbrella of the Events Security Committee in Dubai, noting that there were efforts by unknown people, including volunteers, who spent long hours. Amna Al Falasi, a citizen employee, said that she underwent a specialized course in the Search and Rescue Department at Dubai Police, and when the door to volunteering to participate in organizing New Year’s events was opened, she did not hesitate, and registered on the volunteer platform, and came early to the Burj Khalifa area, and participated within the management team.
She added that the volunteer role she plays with Dubai Police is completely different from her original work, which gives her additional experience and gives her the opportunity to engage in various activities. She also gained new knowledge through the course she underwent at the Incident Response Center in the Search and Rescue Department of Dubai Police.
In turn, Fatima Salmeen, an employee, said that participating in organizing New Year’s celebrations was not her first volunteer experience with Dubai Police, as she had contributed to other volunteer activities over the past five years, stressing that it was wonderful to play a community role different from the original work.
She added that she was stationed at her location on Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard to participate in securing and organizing Burj Khalifa celebrations, from two in the afternoon until the early hours of the morning on the first day of the New Year.
She stressed that the atmosphere was wonderful by all standards in light of the influx of families and people of different ages, which added a kind of joy, especially on the part of children, pointing out that the celebrations become more beautiful every year, and despite spending long hours securing the celebrations with the Dubai Police, they do not Feel the time with the beautiful emotions everyone is showing.
Volunteer Anisa Alameddine said that she had finally completed her university studies, and when the door to volunteering was opened to participate in organizing traffic operations and managing the movement of visitors in the Burj Khalifa area, she did not hesitate to participate, but rather encouraged a number of her friends to attend, and they were together in a dazzling and unforgettable atmosphere.
She added that she was stationed during the celebrations at one of the crossings on Burj Khalifa Street, and contributed to organizing the movement of passers-by and directing them to the appropriate points to watch the fireworks, noting that the celebration-goers were wonderful in responding to the instructions, as if everyone was one family, its members enjoying those happy moments together.
Dubai Police announced, through its volunteer platform on its website, the opening of the door to volunteering to participate in New Year’s celebrations in 2025, pointing out that the initiative aims to enhance community support, and provides the opportunity for volunteers to engage in multiple activities, including organizing traffic with the department’s traffic sergeants. General Traffic Department, and directing the public to the specific locations, stressing that the door is open to those wishing to contribute with the Dubai Police General Command in making a positive impact on society.
Dubai Police welcomed volunteers of all nationalities between the ages of 18 and 60, in Arabic, English, or Hindi.
