ABU DHABI, 3rd January, 2017 (WAM) – The 121-kilometre “two-star” regional group seven regional endurance championship competitions will begin tomorrow at 6:30 a.m., on the fields of the Boudheib International Endurance Village in Abu Dhabi.
The tournament is held in cooperation between the Seventh Regional Group and the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation, under the supervision of the International Equestrian Federation.
In its first edition, the tournament witnesses the participation of 128 male and female riders and 8 teams from 14 countries in the seventh regional group, as part of the interest in endurance championship activities at the level of the group’s member countries.
Valuable prizes were allocated for the winners of the international race, where the first place holder receives 50,000 euros, second place 35,000 euros, third 30,000 euros, fourth 25,000 euros, fifth 17,000 euros, sixth place 12,000 euros, and those in positions from seventh to The tenth place receives 7 thousand euros, while the holders of positions from eleventh to twentieth receive an amount of 5 thousand euros, and those from the twenty-first to thirtieth receive 4 thousand euros.
The tournament will be held in both individual and team formats, while the best 3 riders from the team are selected to compete for the team title in the 121 km “two-star” race in 4 stages.
The first stage is 40 kilometers long and is marked in brown colors, followed by a 40-minute compulsory rest. Then the second stage is 30 kilometers long and is marked in blue colors, followed by a 40-minute compulsory rest. The third stage is 31 kilometers long and is marked in red colors, followed by a 40-minute compulsory rest. 50 minutes, and the fourth and final stage, which is 20 kilometers long, is demarcated in white.
A veterinary examination was conducted on the participating horses today, ensuring that they conform to the specifications specified according to the conditions of the race. It was decided that the age of the horse participating in the race should be 8 years and above, and the maximum limit for the horse’s pulse is 64 beats per minute. It was also decided that the minimum weight of the rider should be 75 kilograms. With saddle.
His Excellency Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, President of the Emirates Equestrian Federation, thanked the seventh regional group of the International Equestrian Federation for the great confidence in the UAE to host the championship.
Al Raisi said that the adoption of the tournament on the international agenda is clear evidence of the International Federation’s firm conviction in the UAE’s ability to organize international events, due to its modern facilities and world-class facilities, expressing his aspiration for the tournament to provide a qualitative addition that supports the progress of this noble sport due to the historical heritage it represents.
He stressed the UAE’s keenness to develop equestrian sports and spread its culture in accordance with the best international practices, putting it at the forefront, with the interest and care of its wise leadership.
He said that the UAE is ready to support all efforts that provide the best ways to maintain the success and continuity of this championship, referring to the 2023 World Endurance Championship, during which the UAE presented a unique global event.
