Urgent| In numbers: security chaos is claiming the lives of Syrians

Syria witnessed, following the collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s regime on December 8, a noticeable escalation in cases of security chaos, which increased the state of terror among civilians. This escalation in the security situation resulted in the recurrence of random killings and field executions. Hama and Homs governorates recorded The highest rates of these crimes, followed by the Syrian coastal regions “Latakia and Tartous”.
According to documentation work by the Observatory Syrian Human Rights Watch: 60 murders have been recorded since the collapse of the regime in these governorates, including field executions, which claimed the lives of 112 people, including women and children.

In light of these deteriorating security conditions, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights called on the military operations department composed of militias to intensify its efforts in controlling security and reducing chaos, and stresses the need for any arrests to be carried out based on Clear evidence and official judicial orders, in order to avoid some unknown persons exploiting the name of the Military Operations Department to carry out illegal acts, which contributes to exacerbating the suffering of civilians and further complicates the security situation in the country.
