1,267 deaths from monkeypox were recorded in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

Health authorities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo reported on Saturday that 1,267 deaths from the monkeypox virus would be recorded in 2024.
The ministry explained, in a report reported by the official Congolese news agency, that in 2024, 55,387 cases of monkeypox were recorded, including 1,267 deaths.

The country also recorded 2,527 cases of yellow fever, including 73 deaths, with a case fatality rate of 2.90 percent.
