Air traffic disruptions in Germany due to bad weather conditions

Snow storms in Germany caused major disruptions to air traffic at Munich Airport, as some flights that were scheduled to take off this morning were cancelled.
A spokesman for the German city of Munich Airport announced today that there were disturbances in air traffic at the airport as a result of bad weather and snow conditions. According to the airport’s website, some flights that were scheduled to take off on Sunday morning were cancelled.

Flight cancellation

The airport spokesman said: “The airlines took the decision to cancel last night’s flights as a precautionary measure,” adding that one of the runways is currently being kept open, while the other is being cleaned.
He stated that reduced visibility due to snowfall led to an extension of the periods between take-off and landing, and that there were also planes that needed to be de-iced, and it was not yet clear how long the weather-related restrictions would last.
