ABU DHABI, 5 JANUARY / WAM / His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, visited the historic sailing ship “Amerigo Vespucci”, the training ship of the Italian Navy, which is currently docked at Zayed Port in Abu Dhabi as part of its first global tour that departed from Italy in Last July.

During the visit, His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan expressed his admiration for the ship, which is described as “the most beautiful in the world,” stressing that it represents a symbol of maritime excellence and the Italian industrial heritage that extends for more than ninety years. His Excellency also expressed his pride in the close relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Italian Republic, which enjoy the support and care of the leadership of the two friendly countries, which contributes to achieving common development goals towards a more prosperous and brighter future.

His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan stressed that hosting the ship “Amerigo Vespucci” in Abu Dhabi reflects the UAE’s vision of promoting cultural dialogue between peoples, noting that this event highlights the importance of cultural interaction and civilizational exchange as a means of deepening human ties. He said that such hosting contributes to enhancing mutual understanding between cultures, and embodies the UAE’s commitment to its role as a global center for cultural communication, in line with its common ambitions towards a future of cooperation and peace.

The visit of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan included a tour of the “Villaggio Italia” exhibition, held on board the ship, which combines culture, art, music, design, and culinary arts, to highlight the slogan “Made in Italy.” The exhibition provides an exceptional opportunity to learn about… On Italy’s cultural heritage, industrial and artistic innovation, demonstrating the diversity and richness of Italy.

A range of distinctive cultural activities and events will be held on board the Amerigo Vespucci ship, including musical performances by the Guardia di Finanza band, in addition to performances by international artists from the Verona Arena Orchestra and the Dubai Choir. The events also highlight the international Italian artist “Gago”, who displays his exceptional sculptural works, with a focus on his most prominent achievements, such as sending a marble statue to the International Space Station.

Accompanying events include artistic workshops, activities for children, and cultural seminars highlighting industrial excellence, in addition to concerts and interactive performances that embody ancient Italian maritime traditions, giving visitors an experience rich in cultural diversity and artistic innovation.
