Erdogan threatens to take action in Syria

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed on Monday his rejection of any division of Syria after the fall of President Bashar al-Assad, stressing that Ankara is ready to take “necessary measures” in the face of any “danger” to that effect..
Erdogan said after a cabinet meeting in Ankara: “We cannot allow, under any pretext, for Syria to be divided, and if we notice the slightest danger (of this happening), we will quickly take the necessary measures.”
He also pointed out that the end of Kurdish militants in Syria is approaching and that “there is no room for terrorism in Syria’s future.”
The Turkish President threatened to launch a new cross-border operation inside Syria against the Kurdish armed factions if Türkiye felt threatened.
He added: “There is no place for terrorism, and those who support terrorists will be buried with their weapons,” stressing, “If the danger is identified, we can intervene suddenly, in one night… We have the ability to do so.”
Erdogan’s statements come after ongoing clashes between pro-Turkey factions and the Syrian Democratic Forces in the Manbij countryside in northern Syria resulted in more than a hundred deaths within two days until Sunday dawn, according to what the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported..
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan confirmed earlier Monday that eliminating PKK fighters in Syria is “a matter of time.”
He added: “The situation in Syria has changed. We believe that eliminating the PKK/YPG is only a matter of time.”
