Postponing the screening of the film Santosh in cinemas

The new Indian film “Santosh”, starring Shahana Goswami, is facing difficulties in showing it in cinemas in India, as the Board of Indian Film Censors (CBFC) delayed granting permission to show it, which led to the postponement of its scheduled release date. On January 10, 2025.

 

According to the “Pink Villa” website, the Supervisory Board raised Objections to some scenes and dialogue in the film, which caused a delay in issuing the final decision regarding the permit. Reports indicate that the film, which deals with sensitive social and political topics, faces additional challenges in achieving a balance between its creative essence and local sensitivities, as confirmed by the Censorship Board.

 

This work is considered to be An international collaboration between the UK, India, Germany and France, it was selected as the UK’s official film at the Academy Awards. The film revolves around a widow named Santosh, who inherits her policeman husband’s job in a rural area in northern India. When the body of a girl is discovered, Santosh is assigned to investigate under the supervision of the charismatic female inspector Sharma, which leads to the development of events in an interesting dramatic framework.

 

The film stars alongside Shahana Goswami. Written and directed by Sandhya Suri, it stars Sunita Rajwar, Pratibha Awasthi, Shashi Beniwal, and Sanjay Bishnoi.
