المملكة: The Environmental Compliance Center handles about 6,000 complaints within a year
The center’s report revealed that reports of environmental violations within the urban area focused on noise pollution, which during the year 2024 amounted to about 1,462 environmental reports, while 2024 witnessed about 1,147 environmental reports from citizens and residents about smoke emissions resulting from activities that have an environmental impact.
The center’s inspectors received reports that focused on the spread of unpleasant odors resulting from improper use of sewage or waste dumpsters located in places not designated for them.
Addressing environmental abuses
Reports of this type constituted about 1,130 reports submitted during the past year 2024. In the same context, the Center received about 515 environmental reports about dust emissions and about 368 reports about chemical pollution, while reports about oil pollution were about 332.

The report indicated that the center’s inspectors dealt with all environmental violations in accordance with what was stipulated in the system’s regulations, stressing that all reports are being processed and the negative effects resulting from them are dealt with and addressed.

Environmental reports were distributed geographically across the regions of the Kingdom, with the Eastern Region accounting for 26% of the reports received, while the percentage of notifiers from the Riyadh region was about 26%, followed by the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region with 16%, then the southern region with 14%, while the Najran region received the least number. Of the reports, 3%.
It is noteworthy that the Environmental Compliance Center receives reports of violations or environmental emergencies around the clock.
