The UAE and Portugal discuss best practices in protecting public resources

PORTUGAL, 10 JANUARY / WAM / His Excellency Humaid Obaid Abu Shabas, President of the Emirates Accounting Authority, concluded an official visit to the Republic of Portugal aimed at building effective strategic partnerships and exchanging best practices, to achieve excellence in protecting public resources.
During the visit, His Excellency the Head of the Agency met with a number of ministers and presidents to discuss ways of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the fields of oversight, auditing and enhancing integrity, including His Excellency Filipa Urbano Calvao, President of the Court of Accounts in Portugal, and Antonio Pires da Graça, Head of the National Anti-Corruption Mechanism in Portugal.
During the visit, the agency reviewed its ongoing efforts to improve governance systems, highlighting the effective role of the regulatory sectors responsible for oversight and integrity, and the integrated coordination among them to achieve the sustainability of national resources, in addition to displaying the best innovative technical solutions that it adopts to support its strategy in enhancing the principles of transparency, governance and accountability.
According to the agency, its harmonization of experiences and exchange of international best practices, in addition to its review of the most prominent effective models that it applies to enhance the efficiency of regulatory operations, comes as a true translation of the UAE’s strategy, which aims to enhance international cooperation at various levels.
