In response to his criticism… The Governor of California invites Trump to visit the sites of the fires
“The fires are still burning in Los Angeles, and incompetent politicians have no idea how to put them out,” Trump wrote on his social media network, Truth Social.
He added: “It is one of the worst disasters in the history of our country. They are simply unable to put out the fires. What happened to them? Death is everywhere.”
Lack of preparation and delayed response
Although it is too early to know the source of the fires, the authorities have been criticized for their preparedness and response.
Firefighting tanks were empty in the upscale Pacific Palisades neighborhood, which was affected by one of five forest fires in the area, and water shortages hampered efforts elsewhere.
Nicole Perry, whose home in Pacific Palisades was destroyed by fire, said in a statement to Agence France-Presse that the authorities had “completely abandoned” the residents.
Water shortages in Los Angeles
About one week before his return to the White House, Trump continues to criticize Democrats, launching several attacks without providing evidence against California Governor Gavin Newsom.
For days, Newsom has been calling on Trump to go to Los Angeles and inspect the damage and efforts made to put out the fires himself.
“I can’t wait for him to come here,” Newsom said in an interview with NBC on Sunday, speaking about Trump.
Trump called on the governor of California to resign, saying that California suffers from a water shortage due to environmental policies pursued by Democrats, which aim to divert rainwater to protect “useless fish.”

Most of the water used by the city of Los Angeles comes from the Colorado River, and is used primarily by the agricultural sector.
Responding to Trump’s insults
“I don’t think this misinformation is helping us,” Gavin Newsom said Sunday. “It would take me months to respond to Donald Trump’s insults.”
The fire has so far destroyed more than 12,000 buildings, according to the California Fire Department, while the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office reported that at least 16 people were killed.
Despite the efforts of thousands of firefighters to contain the flames, the Pacific Palisades fire expanded on Sunday, and the fire may intensify in the coming hours with the expected return of strong winds.
