9 beaches in Sydney closed after mysterious ball-shaped debris appeared

Nine beaches in Sydney were closed after waves washed up spherical debris onto the shores, local authorities announced today.
Among the beaches closed due to the discovery of “white/grey spherical debris” is the famous Manly Beach in Sydney’s Northern Beaches area.
The Northern Beaches Municipality said it had been notified by the New South Wales Environmental Protection Authority of the presence of the wreckage. The municipality added that it is “working closely with the government agency to collect samples for testing.”
The municipality explained: “So far, most of the samples discovered are the size of marble grains, with some larger pieces.” She indicated that she is working to “organize the safe removal of these materials and inspect other beaches.” The public was also advised to stay away from the wreckage.
Some of Sydney’s popular beaches, including Coogee Beach in the eastern suburbs, were closed last October after mysterious black balls washed up there. A similar incident occurred again in December near Sydney Airport.
Regarding the debris that washed up in October, the Environmental Protection Authority said that the results indicate that “its source is most likely due to an entity releasing mixed waste,” adding that the source has not been accurately identified.
