film "Light" Participates in the official competition of the Berlin International Film Festival

 The Berlin International Film Festival announced today, Thursday, the selection of the Egyptian film “Dhay (Biography of the People of Dhay),” directed by Karim El-Shenawy, to participate in the official competition of the “Generations” section. (Generation) within the activities of the 75th session of the festival, scheduled to be held from February 13 to 23 next.

The film "Dhay" It tells the story of the 14-year-old Nubian teenager, “Dhi”, who has a golden voice, and “Dhi”. Challenges due to his unique appearance, he is subjected to bullying by his peers, and dreams of following in the footsteps of his idol, the artist Mohamed Mounir. When he gets the opportunity to participate in “The Voice Kids” program, he embarks with his family on a dangerous journey from Aswan to Cairo, where they face many challenges, including car theft, loss of money, and police chases.

 

Director Karim El-Shenawy is considered one of the most prominent young Egyptian directors, and has previously presented successful works such as the film "Gunshot" And the series “Cain” And “Take care of Zizi.” El-Shenawy is distinguished by his distinctive style and his ability to present touching stories that touch hearts.

 

It is worth noting that the movie "Dhi" It was filmed in 50 different locations across the governorates of Egypt, and a number of stars participated as guests of honor, including Ahmed Helmy, Mohamed Shaheen, Mohamed Mamdouh, and Amina Khalil.
