Jiu-Jitsu Champions: Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Championship is an opportunity to achieve the best start

Abu Dhabi, January 18 / WAM / A number of champions crowned in the competitions of the first day of the Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship confirmed that participation in the tournament, which includes many champions with experience and championships in various categories, is the best start to the new season.

They said in statements to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that the Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Championship bears a name dear to all of our hearts, and participating in it is a unique opportunity to achieve the best start to the new season and prepare for more local and foreign tournaments.

The tournament is currently being held at the Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City in its second edition, as the competitions began in the first round in Abu Dhabi. The first day of the competitions witnessed the holding of bouts in the adult, masters, and youth categories under 18 years, with the participation of hundreds of players from various academies and clubs in the country.

Saif Muhammad, the 85 kg champion, black belt professional, and MOD Academy player, said: “I am proud to participate in the second edition of the tournament, among this group of my fellow champion players in the game. My participation in the competitions was not easy, as I prepared for it some time ago.”

He added, “I reduced my weight from 120 to 85 kg in a short period, as my first goal was to win first place and a gold medal, and I achieved that in the best start to the season.”

Sultan Al Hosani, the Al Wahda Club player in the 77 kg weight category, who won the gold medal, said that he is happy to have achieved first place in this category, with the start of the new season, and in a tournament that bears a name dear to all of our hearts.

He added, “My ambition is to participate with the national team in the coming period and stand on podiums abroad.”
Ahmed Saeed Al Shamsi, Al Ain Club player (weight 46 kg), said that he is proud of the achievement I achieved at the beginning of the season, with my return to the game after a 3-month hiatus. This tournament for me has its own specialness. In the last edition, I won gold and the current one as well, after 3 strong fights. “In a wonderful competitive atmosphere with the start of the new season.”

Obaid Ismail Al Bustani, a player at the Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club who competed in the 50 kg weight category, expressed his happiness at returning to playing the game after recovering from his injury.
He said that participating in the Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Championship is a great honor for every player and a great motivation for success, excellence, and standing on the podium.
Muhammad Dhubyan, the 50-kg player for Baniyas Club, confirmed that his ambition is to continue the success he achieved in the first edition of the tournament and win gold after winning the bronze medal in the first edition last year.
