"Supply" Launches a project to update data on catering establishments with a geographic information system

The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade launched an ambitious project to update data on ration establishments using the Geographic Information System (GIS). The project aims to tighten oversight and control over ration outlets of various types, and track ration operations accurately, ensuring efficient distribution of resources and the delivery of support to those who deserve it. The project enhances transparency in the management of food establishments and outlets and allows the Ministry to monitor their performance immediately and accurately.

The Ministry of Supply explained, in A statement today, Saturday, said that this comes within the framework of Egypt’s Vision 2030, which aims to transform into an integrated digital economy and improve the efficiency of government services, as the Ministry announced that the launch of this project is to enhance digitization and governance and achieve the highest levels of accuracy and transparency in managing the supply system. Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, said that this ambitious project represents a major step towards achieving complete digital transformation in the supply and internal trade sector. He explained that linking catering establishments, outlets and bakeries to the GIS system enhances the ministry’s ability to track and analyze geographical data, in a way that supports decision-making. More efficiently and accurately. He added that the modernization aims to strengthen oversight and governance, improve the services provided, and enable the Ministry to monitor the performance of food establishments and outlets accurately and quickly. It also contributes to supporting decision-making by creating accurate geographical maps that determine the locations of the network of food service providers. He explained that the supply directorates in the governorates are currently following up on filling out customized forms via an electronic system to collect comprehensive data about catering establishments, including geographical location, detailed addresses, contact numbers, and supervising management data, which ensures tight control over catering operations and achieving comprehensive oversight.

He pointed out that cooperation between the directorates and the Ministry is a fundamental pillar for the success of this project, stressing that activating the GIS system gives the Ministry a comprehensive view of the locations of catering establishments and analyzing their performance immediately. This increases work efficiency and enhances meeting citizens’ needs accurately. He stated that this step comes within the Ministry’s strategy to enhance digital transformation and develop catering services in line with global technical developments, and supports Egypt’s vision towards digitizing all government sectors. The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade affirms its commitment to continuing efforts to ensure the achievement of the highest standards of quality and transparency in the management of the supply system, in order to improve the level of services and increase citizens’ confidence in the supply system.
