“Dubai Roads” adopts future directions for sustainability by 2030 for the public transportation system in the emirate
The Roads and Transport Authority has approved the future directions of the 2030 Sustainability Framework for the public transport system in the emirate, and the current capabilities and proposals supporting them, through three main axes related to the environment, economy and society, and in line with the future directions in the emirate for the year 2030, and supports the pioneering role of Hadbi in the field of development. Sustainable globally.
Mona Abdul Rahman Al Osaimi, Executive Director of the Strategy and Corporate Governance Sector at the Roads and Transport Authority, stated that the Authority is making unremitting efforts within its strategic plans, to support the vision of the wise leadership, in enhancing Dubai’s global position in various fields, including sustainability, and in line with the government vision of the UAE. “We are the Emirates 2031”, the government directions for the emirate, and the Dubai Urban Plan 2040, which includes key files that support making the Emirate of Dubai an integrated model of a sustainable city. Confirming that the Authority is moving forward in implementing the steps and procedures in accordance with the time plans established to implement its strategy and in coordination between the departments and concerned parties.
Al-Osaimi pointed out that the Authority has achieved remarkable achievements in terms of its leadership in developing systems and plans at the institutional level in the field of sustainability, as it was the first government entity in the Middle East and North Africa to obtain the British Standard BS 8001:2017 certificate in the circular economy from the British Standards Institute (BSI). The first entity in the Middle East region to develop a long-term specialized strategy to shift towards public transportation with net “zero” emissions by 2050, and the first entity in the field of transport and communication in the world. Obtains the global certificate of conformity to the ISO standard “2017:20400” from the British Standards Institute for sustainable procurement management.
Framework
The future directions of sustainability 2030 in the Authority included the community sustainability axis of the public transport system in the emirate, in the areas of community participation, health, traffic safety, well-being and empowerment, to include ensuring a satisfied society for all its segments, moving towards “zero” work-related injuries by 2028, and reducing deaths resulting from traffic accidents, in addition to To become a global leader in the field of customer experience by 2028, and to enhance the corporate reputation as an employer that attracts talent and develop it in line with the requirements of the future, and increase Women’s participation in work, with the inclusion of all segments of society within the Authority’s efforts in community participation “towards a satisfied society with all its segments.”
As for the environmental sustainability axis, the future directions of sustainability 2030 included the shift towards infrastructure and means of transportation that are adaptable to climate change in the future through a technical and flexible transportation sector based on 100% data by 2030, and zero-emission public transportation, through a public transportation strategy. Zero emissions in 2050.
In the economic axis, the shift towards investment from diversified sources was highlighted, and reaching the highest rating of 5.0 in the maturity level of asset management by the year 2030 through a map for excellence in asset management and achieving a 100% circular economy by the year 2030.
