Ahmed bin Hamdan inaugurates 4 internationally accredited centers for training and developing “sail and rowing”

The headquarters of the Dubai Beach Boat Club in Jumeirah, in the presence of Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, President of the Emirates Modern Sailing and Rowing Federation, and a number of personalities representing the Olympic Committee and sports and marine clubs in the country, witnessed the inauguration of the steps to grant the clubs global accreditation as training and development centers in accordance with the standards of the International Sailing Federation.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan raised the flag of the International and UAE Federations at the headquarters of the Dubai Beach Boat Club in Jumeirah as one of 4 clubs in the Emirates that met the conditions and obtained international accreditation, in a small ceremony in the presence of Mohammed bin Darwish, Executive Director of the National Olympic Committee, and Simon Revis. Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Beach Boat Club, Mohammed Rashid Al Rumaithi, President of Al Udeid Marine Sports Club, Ahmed Ibrahim Mohammed Al Balushi, General Manager of the Fujairah International Marine Sports Club, and Mohammed Abdullah Al Obaidli, Secretary General of the Emirates Modern Sailing and Rowing Federation.

The Emirates Modern Sailing and Rowing Federation obtaining a certificate of excellence for granting accreditation by the International Sailing Federation for development and training centers in modern sailing sports is a new administrative achievement that enhances the status of modern sailing in the country, and places clubs and institutions in the ranks of the world by conforming to international conditions and standards.

This international recognition represents an important additional success after the great successes achieved in the past period, including the Federation’s President winning the position of President of Group I and obtaining membership in the International Federation’s Board of Directors during the period from 2024-2028.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan said, “We are pleased that the UAE Modern Sailing and Rowing Federation is one of the 18 national federations around the world from the 149 member states of the International Federation’s General Assembly that enjoys this honor as the best distinguished and professional destinations around the world.”

He added that this step is a new gain for the Federation and the Emirati modern sailing sport, which has recorded a distinguished presence on the global, continental and regional arenas thanks to the support of the wise leadership and the efforts of the Federation, maritime and sports clubs, teams and academies. It honestly expresses the volume of work in the past period and poses more challenges to continue excellence in the future.

He explained that the UAE has today become the world’s favorite destination in the field of marine sports and modern sailing races, as evidenced by the various events it hosts throughout the year, including the selection of Abu Dhabi and Dubai to be two main stations in the largest global sporting event in the world of boats and sailing yachts – the opening and closing rounds of the fifth season of sailing races.
