Nurmagomedov wins the main fight in “Champions Road to Dubai”

Russian Osman Nurmagomedov won the main fight against Irishman Paul Hughes, in the “Champions Road to Dubai” tournament, on Saturday, at “Coca-Cola Arena Dubai”, which is organized by the Professional Fighters League (PFL) in partnership with the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai and the Dubai Sports Council.
Nurmagomedov’s victory came after a strong and even fight with Hughes in the lightweight category, before his victory was announced by judges’ decision (47-47, 48-46 and 48-46).
Nur Mahmoudov received the champion belt in the presence of international star Habib Nur Mahmoudov, who is supervising his professional career in the world of martial arts.
Usman Nurmagomedov expressed his happiness with this important victory in his career, and said: “I thank Dubai for hosting this wonderful fight, and the fans who supported me with all their strength in order to achieve superiority over a very strong opponent. Perhaps I underestimated him, and this was my mistake. The fight required determination and persistence, and I look forward to it.” To return again to Dubai to participate in the Professional Fighters Association competitions.”
The tournament witnessed 11 fights with the participation of 22 fighters, from 13 countries, led by the UAE, Russia, Ireland, America, Brazil, England, Uzbekistan, Kuwait, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Algeria, and the Philippines.
The Emirati champion Hadi Omar Al Husseini excelled by defeating the Filipino Ruel Banales in the flyweight bout, the Uzbek champion Marafzal “Mirko” Akhtamov with the Englishman Mike “Levi” Thompson in the lightweight category, the British Haider Khan over the Saudi Mustafa Nada in the middleweight bout, and the Irishman John Mitchell in the middleweight bout. Algerian Suhail Thaeri in the light weight, and Egyptian Ahmed Sami over Syrian Tariq Soliman in the open weight.
The Russian Rinat Khavalov defeated the Brazilian Cleavers Fernandez in the bantamweight category, the Englishman Ibragim Ibragimov defeated the Irishman Kenny Mokhwana in the open weight category, the Russian Ahmed Magomedov defeated the Irishman Nathan Kelly, in the featherweight category, the Russian Vadim Nemkov defeated the American Tim Johnson in the heavyweight category, and the Kuwaiti Talal Al-Qallaf. Against Emirati Saeed Al Hosani in the amateur lightweight bout.
