within the framework of the Ministry of Environment celebrations on the National Environment Day held under the slogan & quot; Egypt is a sustainable green: towards a circular economy and a fair green transformation & quot; Within the activities of the World Bank workshop opened by Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, a number of presentations were reviewed on the goals of the World Bank project and the first and second transparency project of the Ministry of Environment, in addition to a presentation on the concept of carbon footprint and the importance of carbon markets and certificates, in the presence of the engineer Adel Al -Najjar, Governor of Giza, Engineer Ayman Attia, Governor of Qaliubiya, and Dr. Al -Khan Polukhov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azbijan in Egypt, Mr. Stefan Jameer, the regional director of the World Bank, and with the participation of Dr. Ali Abu Sunna, head of the Environmental Affairs Authority and a group of environmental experts in Egypt and representatives of the World Bank, and representatives of donors and embassies The ministries, concerned authorities, civil society and academics. & Nbsp;

& nbsp;

The workshop included a review On the importance of the project launched by the Egyptian government, represented by the Ministry of Environment, in the year ۲۰۲۱, with funding from the World Bank worth ۲۰۰ million dollars for a period of six years, in reducing air pollutants & quot; With a number of the most influential sectors in Greater Cairo, which contributes to the optimal management of climate change, explaining that the project deals with the two major sources of air pollution and the open burning of the waste and vehicle emissions.

& nbsp;

Dr. Mohamed Hassan explained during the presentation of the various components of the project, where the project creates and operates networks to monitor global warming and short -term climate pollutants and integrate them with the current networks, implement a plan for the integrated climate management and air quality, where an international coalition was contracted to implement the activity, and it took place Forming a committee for the National Climate Management and Air Quality Management Plan, pointing to the project’s interest in supporting the waste management infrastructure through the establishment of facilities and infrastructure for the Integrated Management Management facility to treat waste in the tenth of Ramadan and work to close and rehabilitate the waste mold in & quot; Abu Zaabal mold & quot; And the establishment of intermediate stations in plasma and Khanka – Qaliubiya Governorate and contributing to the numbers of the environmental development plan for the industrial zone in Al -Akrcha – Qaliubiya Governorate, the guiding project for electrical buses, preparing a detailed design for the guideline project to purchase 100 electrical buses and shipping equipment, and work to update the infrastructure of the Emiri garage to continue the electrical buses , In addition to the effective and integrated management of electronic waste, and healthcare waste, the project also implemented a series of workshops to raise awareness of the importance of exploiting the straw and burning it.

& nbsp;

& nbsp;

For his part, Dr. Samir Tantawi, director of the first and second transparency report and the fifth national report of Egypt & nbsp; the current situation of national climate change reports, which includes National reporting reports: (3) NC – The fourth report in the final stages, inventory reports every two years: (1) BR, National Contribution Reports: (2) NDCS first report + two updates, which requires reducing emissions from three different sectors by 2030 which is Transport sectors, electricity and renewable energy, oil and natural gas, & nbsp, pointing out that Egypt achieved a remarkable success in the transition to the carbon low path in the electricity sector, generation, transport and distribution, with a significant decrease in global warming emissions.

& nbsp;

Tantawi added that Egypt has achieved great success in adopting more sustainable and low carbon transportation, as the transport sector achieved a significant decrease in carbon dioxide emissions by a decrease of 16.86% compared to the usual work levels for the same year, and exceeded this The goal of the year 2030 is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 7%. The importance of carbon fingerprint and carbon certificates, explaining that the carbon fingerprint is the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions, expressing it with carbon dioxide, which is sufficient and caused by human activities and is notified to know the environmental impact of all activities of the facility and determine the chances of reducing carbon, which contributes to climate change and reduce environmental deterioration, a sign To the importance of & nbsp; carbon markets that stimulate innovation & nbsp; companies for solutions to reduce their emissions, and to achieve economic efficiency that provides a flexible and effective mechanism for reducing emissions, financing climate projects through & nbsp; the proceeds from selling carbon balances.

& nbsp; /P>

I honor the concept of carbon certificates as it is financial tools that represent a reduction or avoiding one of the greenhouse gases, which are issued to companies or individuals who implement projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, indicating the importance of these certificates in achieving financial incentives that encourage companies Individuals on investing in emissions reduction projects, achieving transparency to measure and reduce emissions, financing climate projects, achieving sustainability as it contributes to achieving sustainable development goals, & nbsp; improving the Foundation’s image as an environmentally responsible company, attracting investors interested in sustainability, reaching new markets. >
