Trump requires rare minerals from Ukraine for aid

US President Donald Trump said that he wants to negotiate with Ukraine on an “agreement” in which its rare minerals are offered as a “guarantee” in exchange for US aid.
“We are looking forward to reaching an agreement with Ukraine, whereby they provide rare minerals and other materials such as guarantee in exchange for what we offer to them,” Trump said.

Rare minerals for Ukraine

One of the journalists asked: “Do you want Ukraine to give its rare minerals to the United States?” “Yes, I want guarantees about rare minerals.”

Last October, Volodimir Zellinski suggested concluding agreements with Ukraine’s partner countries to exploit some strategic minerals.
These minerals are raw materials widely used in electronics.

In a peace plan revealed last October, Zelinski, without specifically mentioning the rare minerals, suggested a special agreement with his country’s partners that allows “joint protection” and “joint strategic exploitation of its resources.”
For example, “uranium, titanium, lithium, graphite, and other high -value strategic resources.”
