Canada reveals a new procedure to persuade Trump to give up customs duties

Canadian Minister of Trade Mary Eng said that Canada will continue to try to persuade the administration of US President Donald Trump to abandon customs duties in part.
Canada will resort to persuading Trump by communicating with the American states with great trade relations with it.

American customs duties on Canada

“These states, which do business, have strong ties with Canada,” she added in an interview with Bloomberg today during a visit to Brussels.
She continued: We have done this work because it is important to be in contact with these commercial partners at the state level and at the local level.
She continued: “It is really important that the Americans themselves reach the conclusion that customs duties will make life more expensive for Americans.”

Trump’s customs duties

A few days ago, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the suspension of the proposed American customs duties, for at least 30 days.
These customs duties were scheduled to enter into force, but Trudeau indicated that Canada agreed to make concessions on border security.
This announcement came after a phone call by Trudeau with US President Donald Trump on Monday.
